The charity’s Prison Ministry Programme was established in 1998. The ministry assists in freeing and reintroducing nonviolent prisoners back into the community. Every year, at Easter and Christmas, FFP reunites inmates with their families by paying the fines of those who have committed minor offenses.  

 

Several ex-inmates have benefitted from our Fresh Start programme which provides assistance with equipment and tools to engage in profitable businesses such as welding, auto mechanics, carpentry and farming. 

 

We also provide consistent support for correctional institutions islandwide.

 

Statistics

  • Since the inception of the programme, 743 men and women have had their fines paid.
  • More than 8,250 ex-inmates have benefited from the Fresh Start programme.
  • In 2021, FFP Jamaica paid the fines of four nonviolent offenders for Easter and nine inmates during Christmas.
