Food For The Poor support for education includes:

• School feeding programmes
• Back-to-School assistance
• Agricultural projects
• Construction of sanitation facilities
• Basic school construction
• Installation of hand wash stations.

We continuously supply our schools with school furniture and supplies such as desks, chairs, library material, filing cabinets, computers, and sports equipment.  As a result of our contribution to several school feeding programmes, schools report increased attendance, better performance, and greater attention span in their students.  Additional nutritional support is provided through agriculture projects, including chicken coops, green houses and open-air vegetable crops.

For back-to-school assistance, each year, Food For The Poor offers grants and vouchers to underprivileged students from basic to tertiary level.  Many of the families who benefit are from existing Food For The Poor programmes including social assessment, housing, prison ministry as well as agriculture and fishing.

Without the support of our donors, whose generosity and investment embodies true compassion, many of these students would not be able to pursue their academic dreams and realize their full potential.  The programme has empowered and equipped hundreds of students with the necessary resources to fulfil their academic pursuits.

In addition to installing hand wash stations in schools to, we have also completed a number of water harvesting projects.  These were initiated and executed to increase the school’s capacity to secure water while giving them the ability to practice proper hygiene, especially in light of the pandemic. 

Statistics:

FFTP assisted 139 students to attend school in 2021 through our back-to-school programme, which provides funding for school fees and books for students from basic to tertiary level. In 2021, two students were assisted with scholarships to medical school.
